Well i got my spit

Spent the afternoon building it and then went for my 1st flight...

It goes really well, a lot faster then i thought it would go which gave mt a bit of a fright and its so easy to turn you only need a slight touch to turn. Much more of a beast then a glider lol

I had 2 or 3 good laps of the sports field when i tried to land for the 1st time. I came in a bit steep for that landing but i got away with it.

So i had another go all went well at 1st... then it was bound to happen i crashd it a bit hard on the front end so i need to get afew new bits prop, spinner and cowl but the rest looks fine. I have just orderd 2 front end crash kits as i think these will be the most common parts to replace.

I keep thinking i should be mad but im not, i just cant wait to get out there and have another go. :)

Check the gearbox for cracks, they are made of toffee and crack very easy. The slightest inballance in the prop tears them to shreds.

I had a look in side and found the airframe to be cracked by 1 of the motor screws plus the main large white plastic gear was also cracked. Good job i have brought the new front end kit.

Still it was great fun :o)

Richard.

oh is there any online RC flight sim?

Yeah that's the thing with these war birds, for someone not used to flying they require complete and utter concentration, you really have to be wired!

I know this from my first attempt at flying an RC spitfire and smashing it into the ground after a few minutes of probably the most heart pounding moments of my life! Haha

I have since been learning with Super Cub and in my mind anyway, doing quite well... however I take one look at a picture of a spitfire banking with the nose down and it brings memories of my crash flooding back, I just dont know if I could handle it yet; as you rightly point out 'it's a beast'! :D
