View Full Version : Should we be selling E-flite?

Whilst we appreciate E-flite make some very nice looking Warbirds, would you pilots be interested in them?
Because they currently don't come with the electrics, it would certainly be a little more expensive than the Ready to Fly planes we currently stock.
We have requested pricing for an all inclusive package (Servos, Motor, Battery, RX and a Spektrum DX5/DX6 Transmitter), but the final costings are yet to be confirmed.
Is this of interest to any of you out there?
What are your thoughts regarding the planes on offer?
Are there better planes or packages we should be considering?
All the best,
The Squadron

The E-flite gear is nice. I'm half way to ordering a Sea fury because the basic model isn't that expensive and its got retracts. E-flite gear is for more experienced fliers though and these people usually have their own radio gear.
I think it would be a good addition to your line up, the next step up so to speak.

The Fury and P38 are lovelly looking birds, but if my memory is right these are quite small birds compaird to what you're already supplying? and even with out the radio gear are already tetailing around the £80 / 100 mark? but have a far higher build quality than PZ.....

Hi everyone, has anyone seen the Flying Styro range they do a lovely Stuka in green and winter camo, I picked up a ME 262 styro kit from the states with motors and esc's ( Got a thing about 262's now got 3, sad or what ?? ) They come in kit form and retail at around £80 to the ton mark and they are ready painted, although the stuka apparently tip stalls if your not careful. Fly on people and stuff the clubs !!!

Hi Folks
I like the look of the P38- I have always liked the idea of trying a twin engined plane although I would prefer a Mosquito:D
I would be interested to know the package prices or at least a PNP set. One of the big advantages of the PZ stuff is that everything is included and when the inevitable happens they are not too difficult to repair (if maybe painful :p) Are these planes equally easy to fix/bodge/repair? Are they reasonably forgiving to fly? The Spit and the Cub are great flyers and even the FW190 is good when the balance issue is corrected.
I know many of us now use third party radio gear so maybe a complete package is not required but it still would be of interest.
It is all getting a bit exciting in Squadronleader land with the Corsair on its way soon (hopefully) and now maybe some new planes - would still love an ME109 from somewhere to match the Spit
Anyway that's my 3p

Would love to build a larger electric Spit, where did you get your plan from?

I might have something of interest in my attic for you then......1/8th scale mark 9 bulsa with retracks, but I don't think you could get an electric motor to get this skyward?????
I'll have another little hunt around and if I can find some "good" plans will forward to you mate.

You cna get some monster Hackers now lol 1/8th is probably a little too large though, my wife would kill me lol

That 1/8th needs to be airborne......it's the Spits destiny. Surly you won't deny that beast its freedom to fly. :D

Stocking some E-Flite aircraft is definitely a very good idea but at the same time, don't forget those newbie’s/in-experienced pilots therefore, as well as the combat aircraft which are for the more experienced pilots, what about some basic/slow flyers?
For example;
The Piper Cub http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/RelatedParts.aspx?ProdID=EFL4000&Category=Parts%20Listing
The T-34 Mentor http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFL4800
Apprentice 15e http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=EFL2725
Whatever SL decides to sell, please make sure all the spare parts will be available for as long as you stock the aircraft. There is nothing more annoying than buying aircraft and flying them for a while only to crash after a few months/years to find out they have stopped making the required parts!

I think the PZ Supercub is a more than ample trainer, once you progressed from that onto a PZ low wing warbird like a Spitfire, FW190 or P51 you can then look at something more advanced like the E-flight stuff.
It wouldnt be a good idea to go straight to an E-flite warbird and I odnt think SL needs to duplicate models.

Think you bang on.....the cub is just right for training, and then on to spit, them 190....
If you've flown one trainer you've ....well you know.
would love to see a one off such as the P38!!!!

i love the me109,it would be great to get one at a reasonable cost.
It would be the perfect foil for my spitfire. Its a pity parkzone dont make one.

:Dthought some of you guys might like that:D She looks stunning (and not even painted up!) but I see her as a "longterm" project....being 5 servo's and a cool 5' span.....the pilots shoulders and head are the same size as the pz spit complete canope:eek:!

It'd definitely be nice to see some RTF models sold here that are of higher quality than Parkzone. Your stocking and parts service is brilliant and i'd like to keep using you, but once i get beyond the cub i'm getting away from the poor quality radio gear and cheaper motors of PZ kit. There's much better value stuff out there that will last longer in my opinion.

I really like the look of all the E-Flite stuff, I've got the T28 trojan and have been looking at the T34 Mentor as my next investment.
First post, hello!!

Welcome Simon, the T34 is really nice but it's a huge model, you don't realise how big till you see one.

T34 Big? are you sure?

09-11-2008, 09:23 PM
not my garage but the t34 is on top with the t28 underneath, gives a bit of perspective. I did see one today in the box, crash the t34 and its more or less game over.

From what i've seen, Flying Styro make the most authentic looking planes, and have quite a vast range from ju-88's to me-110's.
Their scale is a bit smaller than parkzone, for example their spit IX has a wing span of around 840mms instead of the parkzones 1000.
The one thing i like about parkzone is their scale is that bit bigger..

I think its a bit un-fair to compare Flying Styro and PZ....can you?
The PZ is a "plug and play" and the Flying Styro are long term project builds.....
For money (and no I don't get "kick backs" and am not employed by PZ or SQ) I think the PZ are a good size and exceptional value for money......I can replace bits or the whole cheaply after a crash! and a Flying Styro.....well it's game over!

You are perfectly right Ralph. thats why i have parkzone and not flying styro.
I was just giving my opinion cos earlier in this forum someone was asking for suggestions as to whether SL should continue getting e-flite or something else.
ralphp
11-20-2008, 03:51 PM
No problem.....and every ones opinion counts! It's just quite a lot of people put down PZ for the wrong reasons.
if you want scale birds build them
if you want instant fun buy a PZ
E Flight are nice but seem to sit between the two and I don't think theres room? do you guys???????

Theres two things that put me off buying the E-flite Hawker Seafury: the first was that they are a bit small, and secondly you have to buy seperate parts to complete the kit.

I know of two Sea Furies in my area, both have been fixed many times due to hard landings, the entire nose section seams to break off in a hard landing but its easy to repair with the right glue. They look ace close up, just a little fragile and a finished kit is expensive.
