Hay people,

Recived my spitfire today, but have a few battery related questions if anyone could help :)

After charging the battery on the 1.4 setting as stated in the booklet untill the LED stoped blinking, I then took it off to test the controls.

The plane made a long bleep, two short bleeps and then 4 bleeps that sounded kind of like a siren.

After I tested the control surfaces movment I throttled up and within a second or two the controls became unresponsive and the motor powered down slowly.

I guessed this was possibly caused by my battey not being charged enough but I thought the charger was supposed to charge the battery untill its fully charged and then cut out!?

I then put the battery back on charge to see if the charger would cut off as the battery was full, however it began to charge the battery again as if it was empty!

Confused...

Hope someone can help.

Thanks

raymond

I think you might have a receiver issue as the batteries work in the following way…..

1. Connect up un-charged batteries from the box and deplete cell completely (has a memory)
2. Charge up totally
3. Top up 15 minuets before flight

If it was a low charged battery issue the control surfaces would work but the motor would not.

Thanks for the info, I've emailed squadron leader to see what they think I should do.

The other question is, does the model power up now? if the receiver has gone then it wont beep at you, if the radio is broken then the motor will continuously beep at you.

The guys sent me a new battery yesterday, it charged up and got slightly warm unlike the origional battery which suggest its charged this one.

I've tried it in the spitfire and it seems to boot up fine. I've throttled up a few times and moved the controls about and haven't encountered any problems.

Seems to be problem solved :)

Had her up in the air tonight, just a few launches and landings, had a great time.

Cracked a cowl and a prop after putting her down a bit hard once but apart from that shes unscathed and I got a good few flights before the light died.

Can see why people take to flying RC planes, i had fun just taking her up and down again a few times...can't imagine what barrel rolling and all that must be like!

Great to see your hooked! Just remember "the pilots friend is height!" before getting adventurous!!! it's less expensive to start also. When you feel you've got to grips with your kite you can bring her in low and try again....good luck and happy flying

I have stopped using the supplied charger because I switched my Spitfire over to Lipo batteries and 2.4 Ghz radio and it's made a huge difference to the way it flies. Glad you got it sorted.
