After a couple of very violent crashes due to interference on the 27meg frequency, I'm considering going to a 2.4 gig set-up. Can anyone please advise how to go about doing this? I have a Super Cub. Do I have to change the servos to match the new receiver? Thanks.:) Oh, also, could anyone reccommend a particular make of system?

Its really down to personal preference, mine is Spektrum and I have a DX6i radio. If you want to use any aftermarket radio system in a SC you will need to replace the servos and the ESC/RX module. I think a 15-20amp Lipo compatible ESC would be ok and the AR6100 RX from Spectrum. I don't have a Cub so cant comment on which servos but I think any from the T28 or the Spitfire will do you.

You'll also need a speed controller, as (as far as i can tell) it'll integrated into the receiver on the Cub. I've taken one out of a (non parkzone) spitfire i own.

Hi guys,

Many thanks for the info, I'll let you know how I get on. I've got a bit of repair work to carry out first! Ah well, something to do while it's raining.

Don't get me started!!!!

Rain and Wind is all that we've had for the last two weeks it seams. I just want to fly but it's not possible.

Really very annoying lol.

Hi,
Thanks again for the info. I've got my eye on the 2.4 gig Tx. I've just ordered a Spit from you guys (with the front-crash kit!). As soon as I get confident on that I'll be thinking of using the one transmitter for both planes.
I do sometimes suffer from my cub suddenly ploughing into the ground on full left rudder. I think there is a connection problem somewhere but can't fathom it yet. Not sure if it's the receiver or the rudder servo.
Looks like I might be ale to fly on monday or tuesday as the wind speed will be low enough. By the way guys, good to see the Avro Vulcan back in the air eh?:)

Sometimes the ACT has been known to do stuff like this. The simple planes are great to learn on but you soon can grow out of them, you have a choice, spend money on making a trainer exciting or buy something exciting.

Fitting 2.4ghz to the Cub would be good though as you can configure mixing and expodential to make a model easier to fly.

On my Stryker, it has a tendancy to climb with speed meaning you always need to trim it, I setup a mix linked to the throttle that applies down elevons to keep it level, it kinda works lol.

The DX6i is a good radio though, it can grow with you.
