Hi,
New here - so be gentle...

Took my Supercub and Mustang out for the first time last weekend.
Had them a while and done hours, months even, on the simulators...

Anyway the cub flew brilliant, was straight from the box, assembled and ground take offs... no trimming - its was brilliant. :D:D

Couple of hours later, went to have a first flight with the Mustang, but the motor did not seem to be running smoothly in hand.

Put the throttle to about 3/4, was juggling the controller and trying not to drop the aircraft. Then just as I was about to throw it, the motor cut out.

Reset it, throttled back again, got in position, and the same thing happened again. Then again...
So I retired it to the car. :(

Have had a quick look and cant see any reason for this, was expecting a loose wire or something, but could not see anything.

Anyone got any ideas where to look next, or has anyone else had the same problem?
Had the plane about 6 months now, so dont think I could return it.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Drew

I know it sounds daft, but is the battery fully charged?

This does sound like the battery wasn't fully charged, the supplied charger can "False Peak" batteries so when you charge them, always make sure they are warm. The warm temperature tells you they are sufficiently charged. Also, an out of balance prop puts a lot more load on the speed control so if your battery was charged ok and the prop was out of balance then it could be that the speed control was being overloaded and it shut down.

It's worth checking.

Hi Juz,
Thats what it turned out to be.
Had charged the battery using the supplied charger on the recommended settings. The light had gone out, identifying that the battery was charged.

Apparently it was not, tried the SC battery in the aircraft, and it ran smooth.

So recharged at 1.2, the SC setting, and it charged properly.

Not had the bottle, or weather to test fly this plane yet, and am now waiting till I get better.

Thanks for the reply,
Drew

If your going to expand your hanger at some point, it's worth getting a universal charger. I have a Core RC-UDC20 (available from most model shops) that cost £55 and it will charge anything. Nicad, Nimh, Lipo, even your car battery lol.

My fleet has already expanded....

Started off with rotary craft.
I have a various esky charger/balancers for lipos.

And have a Cellpro Revolution 4S, with multiple connecters.
But have not used this yet, as it only connects to car batteries.

Was using the supplied chargers with the mains adaptor supplied by SquadronLeader... :D
Got SC, Mustang and Spit already...

Just added a PZ Ember to the list, along with a Flyingstyro Mosquito (long term project)
