Whoo hooo.
New thread in the new forum!
So, who has got the T-28? Who has flown it? How does she fly?
I've got one but the heavens have been firmly open for the last few days so not yet manged to fly it yet!!!!
Can't wait!
Wonder when Squadron Leader will be setting up a new page for the T-28 parts......

Managed to get some time to go and fly the Trojan today.
It doesn’t seem to like hand launching a great deal although it is not impossible, you just need a good firm throw into wind.
It takes off after a short ground roll and keeps nice and straight during the run despite a very un-even and fairly long grass at the field I used.
Unless doing aerobatics, it's best to reduce throttle shortly after take off otherwise it will disappear very soon!
Certainly not for the in-experienced.
I only used the "low" control setting today rather than "high" and even on low the responses were very rapid with the throttle at a 1/4 and super responsive with half throttle or more.
Stalling was surprising with the nose dropping vertically down and a fair amount of height is lost, luckily there is no significant wing drop although I suspect this may not be the case if any aileron is applied.
I am yet to attempt anything other than circuits (i.e. aerobatics) but unlike the cub it is obviously fully aerobatic like the warbirds.
Landing requires some power in-order to raise the nose for the flare or risk bending the nose wheel.
Has anyone else yet flown the Trojan? What are you impressions?
Now, who has adapted the T-28 to include flaps for slower landings........

Hi, im new here and this is my first post but I saw the post and had to reply having just flown the Trojan after a long wait from xmas(pressie from the wife). Havent flown fixed wing for about 10yrs since i gave up RC and now back into the hobby with heli's and im amazed at how beautifully this plane flies. Unbelievable that you can buy a plane in a box and it flies straight out of it. The Trojan tracked nice and staight on take off, into a gently ascent straight into a nice left hand circuit while I made a few adjustments to the trims. I did find though that it needed the maximum throws on the control sufaces as I thought it was a bit to soft and struggled to loop or go inverted on the begginer setting. No problem though once I had flicked the switch on the transmitter. It recovered quickly from stalls although I did had to make it stall, thats how good it is.Touch and goes were lovely and final approaches were bang on where I put it. In the sky it still looks large and I had no problems with orientation even when it was some distance away from me. This plane really is fantastic to fly and if I can fly it after a 10yr lay off its a credit to parkzone. I cant recommend the Trojan highly enough for either begginers or experienced and I cant wait to fly it again :D

Yep, I've also been flying it a fair bit since my posts on here. It is a great plane and it flies so well.
The aircraft is near enough silent even on full power so it is perfect and does not disturb the owner of the filed that you shouldn't be flying from!
The only thing I think could be improved is the way in which the wing is held on, it is one screw and 2 short thin plastic prongs which have broken twice resulting in having to purchase a hole new wing.
Apart from that minor in-convenience, a great aircraft with great performance.

Hi, Ive not long purchased a T28 and only flown it 3 times but I've never flown till the battery has gone flat so I was just wondering on average how long are you guys getting on a full battery? The longest flight ive had it 10 minutes, I was expecting to get about 15?

I think you would be safe with 15 minutes but it really depends on how it is flown i.e. long periods of full throttle maybe less than that or mostly medium/idle for longer than 15 minutes.
Anyway, the T-28 comes with a battery warning indicator in the form of an audible alarm on the aircraft which sounds when the battery is getting low. Even when this alarm sounds you can still get another 10 minutes flying time, the problem with this alarm is that as it’s on the aircraft, you have to be flying it near to you in order to hear it as its not very loud.

Thats a new interesting feature but your right, you would only hear it at close range. Just one question, does this aircraft have a BEC system? Im sure for safety this is built into the ESC. It would be a bit worrying if you were flying when the battery went flat and just lost complete control

I think with all the PZ and HZ aircraft (IIRC) when the battery is too slow to supply power to the motor there will be enough power remaining to operate the servos in order to allow a safe landing.
I perhaps shouldn’t say this but even when the alarm on the T-28 sounds, it is still possible to get another 10 minutes of flying (I did x10 touch and goes!) but I strongly do not recommend this or risk loosing control at a very inconvenient time!
Certainly on the Cub, this feature is installed and I have tried it on the T28 but only on the ground.
Of course, with Li-Po batteries I think we are recommended to avoid draining them completely.
This is why we should never fly with dodgy batteries both is the transmitter on the aircraft!

The Trojan is an amazing plane to fly. Its so much fun, but I wouldn't get one if your a beginner . Get the Super Cub, then the Trojan . I have a Mustang :p, but it's more of a toy than a plane.
Safe landings,
Morph :)

I have not flown my T28 Trojan yet but i cant wait! i have been to busy crashing my Hobbyzone firebird freedom:). I am new to R/C flying but i do get the feeling that when i do get the T28 in the air i am going to be making full use of the Sqadron Leader spare parts list!!!:)

hi guys,
ive been flying the cub for a few weeks and im after a plane that can offer more of everything, speed etc. im torn between the trojan and the spitfire but get the impression the trojan is faster more manouverable and more fun. i dont want to buy the spit and find myself wishing i'd bought the trojan. i need advice please, which is better?

I personally prefer the T-28, the only reason being that it has undercarriage, they are both fast and totally aerobatic. The spitfire looks beautiful when airborne but this usually comes to an ugly end during the subsequent belly landing.

Mine should arrive today :D why is the weather so rubbish when your about to maiden a new plane lol.

Finally, I got to maiden my Trojan today. Had to make a few minor adjustments to the rudder and front wheel linkage to get them to run straight, the aeilerons needed a little bit of adjustment as well. I replaced the OEM RX with Spektrum and set all the thows for +50 expodential, this seams to give a nice steady and sedate flight.
She flew perfect, flew at 50% throttle for over 10 mins and landed perfectly (if a little long)
This is now my favorite plane, handling is so much better than the Spitfire and its so much more responsive.
Awesome.

More responsive than the Spitfire... and that flies like it's on rails! Ha :D
