Hi Folks

I have bitten the bullet after flying for over a year with stock batteries and have bought a Mystery 2200mAh Lipo which I intend to use it in my PZ warbirds. However I have a question regarding connectors. Lipos come with Deans connectors and I know many of you have changed all your connectors over to Deans. However I don't wish to convert all my receivers over to Deans as I still have a load of NiMh batteries with the ordinary stock connectors and only the one Lipo (for now!!). I have heard in various forums that people have had problems with the stock connectors but I myself have never had a problem. I intend to make a Deans/Stock adaptor and my question is would this be a problem electrically? Are the stock connectors not used due to mechanical problems or is it that they cannot handle the increased current?

Thanks

Malcolm

The stock Molex type connectors are quite poor quality, I had several major hits with them on other planes. If you intend to run Lipo then the increased voltage will increase the current draw too and this means the molex plug is more likely to fail. You really are better off converting all your cells over to Deans or similar.
