Just in the process of treating myself to yet another of the parkzone range but am a little concerned about the comments regarding the Mustang. I'm struggling a little with the Focke and have lost a Super Cub (see this months "The Fallen" for info :( ) but am seriously considering getting the Spit for Christmas. If you had to rate them, in what order would you purchase the planes to progress your flying skills? I would really appreciate any views on this from both compete novices (like myself) and ACE's alike. ;)

I bought the Focke as my first plane :( - it is still in pieces but i will eventually get round to re-building it.

I decided to try a Cub which proved the right decision to learn with. I quickly moved on to the Spit which is pretty easy to fly. So much so, that I was getting through 3 or 4 batteries without stacking it. Gone to Lipo now but recently stuffed it into a tree  It eventually came down on its own after 5 days.

First - Super Cub, get to grips with that until you feel confident especially with it coming towards you, practice really low level too, helps to keep your concentration up, it's also worth getting some better batteries, I run my Super Cub on the 10.8v batteries from a Spitfire, makes it a much faster little thing and closer to the speed of the warbirds.

Next - Spitfire, it's slightly slower than the P-51 and FW190 but still quite exciting and you can practice more advanced manouvers like the barrel roll, Split S and inverted flying.

Then you should be well ready for the slightly faster P-51 and FW190 or T-28 Trojan.

Most important thing is to enjoy yourself :)

The T28 Trojan is a gem, I would say it's simply the best Parkzone plane available today, till the corsair shows its self. The T28 has mild manners but you can throw it around the sky if you want to.

However, I would learn on your Cub then try the Spitfire then you can goto the T28/Corsair if you chose to.

Ive been happily flying my Spitfire and I've recently bought a P51 but not flown it yet... I was wondering what it is about flying the Parkzone Mustang that people don't like?

It's slightly more edgy than the Spit, also the design isnt as good as the Spit. Beware of the battery cover, it can come off in flight and the battery will then eject.

Not something you really want to happen in flight.

Yeah I've noticed the battery cover isn't very well designed, I expect it's very easy to snap on cold days. As far as the finish goes the mustang itself seems beter made than the Spit. Am I right in thinking the belly scoop may be prone to damage on landing?

Well anyway last night I took both my Spit and P51 out for a flying session... had a go on the Spit first as it was a bit windy and I wasn't sure how it would go but it was fine so I decided to put the Mustang up for it's first flight; I have to say I didn't find any fault with it at all, apart from a slight bank to the left on launching, once up in the air it was a bit quicker in every way than the Spit and loops and rolls were easy, turns were nice too and no height was lost... the only thing was the glide speed for landing; even with a fairly strong headwiind it seemed to be as fast as a Super Cub at full throttle. It did what I wanted as soon as I moved the sticks, all in all I found it to be a very stable and still an exciting plane to fly although it's certainly not an ideal starter plane. :D
