1. Brushless upgrade. Have read somewhere that you can just put the brushless motor from a stryker and use the std gear box. Anyone tried this?
2. Im thinking of going to STD equiptment and have been looking at the spektrom 2.4ghz system.
running a std motor what ESC should i get?
3. lipos. Have seen loads on ebay. what spec should i get?
4. What paint do people use to customise spits?

Cheers guys:confused::cool:

The 2200mAH 11.5v Li-Po battery that parkzone do is pretty good tbh.

yeah, the 1800KV motor from the Skryker C is a good choice, reduced 3:1 by the Spit Gearbox it won't be balistic but it will be good.

1. As above, good choice but maybe better to go for a stand alone brushless outrunner around the 200 – 250w range. I use stock gearbox with a AON 3000kv inrunner in my mustang and its fine.

2. A 20amp would be fine for stock motor but for future upgrade options i would go with a 30amp. Hobbywing/emax/Pentium are very reasonably priced on ebay.

3. I wouldn’t go for the Parkzone. Very expensive for a 12c battery. You can get very cheap and reliable lipos from ebay for a round a ¼ of the price. I use Mystery 2400mah rated at 15c for around £10 delivered, and EC Power 2450 20c for £20 delivered both from Hong Kong, I get a comfortable 15-20 minutes flight time on my standard brushed FW190.

4. Assuming you don’t have an airbrush (like me) I use Styro spray cans (foam friendly) but these are a bit limited to colours. Humbrol also have an acrylic spray can range which i have also used to great success.

Hope this helps

Don't know anything about the "mech" side of things.....but paint!
Humbro!,Humbro!,Humbro!..........Humbro!:D

Mixed and thinned down in an airbrush....any colour is possible. (or painted on with a brush) It's fine on foam:D

My experience with the Inrunner type motors was that the higher prop speed just tore the gearbox apart. I went through 4x props and gearboxes before I gave up and used an outrunner lol.

Item location is Hong Kong, £10 shipping and potential for import duty, I wouldn't bother. You can buy 25C bats in the UK for about £20 each.

Have heard bad reports about the 2200mah Mysterys (C rating not true!) hence i went for the 2400mah 15c which received good reviews. Great for stock set up and potential 20 min flight times.

The "C" rating tells you how much current is safe to draw from your battery, the higher the C rating the better (and more expensive) however for the stock motor a 15c is fine. If you upgrade to brushless then 20c – 25c would be a better option, especially when turning large props. The higher C rating doesnt mean you will have any more power or run for longer times, it just allows you to use more current from the battery.

The the 2400 Mystery at 15c means you could draw 36A continuously without damaging the battery (2400 x 15c / 1000 = 36A)
As radweld states, you can get decent 25c lipos in this country:-

http://www.giantcod.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=402425&osCsid=61d2332beaaef980e05484f9ae688873

This one would be 56A continuously (2250 x 25c / 1000 = 56A) The two C ratings are given for continuous and burst rates. The burst means for short periods you can actually draw a shade under 79A!!
Just a note on paying import duty when ordering from HK. The majority of sellers (in fact all the ones i have ever used on ebay) mark the package with a customs declaration and you never have to pay a penny. :D
