Just in the process of treating myself to yet another of the parkzone range but am a little concerned about the comments regarding the Mustang. I'm struggling a little with the Focke and have lost a Super Cub (see this months "The Fallen" for info :( ) but am seriously considering getting the Spit for Christmas. If you had to rate them, in what order would you purchase the planes to progress your flying skills? I would really appreciate any views on this from both compete novices (like myself) and ACE's alike. ;)

Hi There

Sorry to hear you had problems with the Cub and the FW190. I have a Cub which with the aid of glue and tape is still going strong. I also have a 2nd hand FW190 which I have not been able to fly yet due to various problems (bent, stalling wing & bad speed controller it seems a pig to launch). I too have heard bad things about the P51 but I can heartily recommend the Spit. I had trouble with my second flight but purely with launching as it is less forgiving than the Cub when hand launching. However once the Spit is in the air and you get her three mistakes high you will have great fun. For landing the Spit will come in gentle on very little throttle and then will glide the last few feet with no power and more importantly no stalling. I have now only crashed my Spit twice - once due to sticking a camera on its tail and stalling (forgot to balance the weight - duh!!) and the second time the battery went flight on approach and she tipped down and buried herself in the mud.

In answer to your orignal question:
Get the Cub if you are a complete novice and a nervous flyer, get a Spitfire if you want a good looking scale warbird that is the easiest of the PZ Wabirds to fly, get a FW190 if you want a more aerobatic warbird as it rolls better(and you want to fly for the other side). Get the P51 if you wish to have a challenge as it was the first PZ warbird and I believe has some "bugs" in its design. It certainly looks great but might be tricky to fly.

I my opinion just get the Spitfire - you won't be disapointed!! Or buy a new Cub to start again :p

Good luck

Malcolm

I first bought a Cub which I quicky got bored with then moved onto the Spitfire which flys really well but rolls slowly so I decided to get a Mustang as well, I'm really glad I did... even after just one flight I think it's fantastic; there was a slight dip to the left on launching but I corrected it and headed into the sky where I flicked it to high-rate and found that it was an absolute dream to fly! I'd highly reccomend a P51 to anyone once they can fly the Spit. :)

well there are two ways as I would like to see it.....

A.
Cub,spit,fw190 the T28 if you want to spend some money:eek:......or
B.
stage 1 spit on standard batteries with minimal throw on the control surfaces and the switch on the top right of the controller on “low”.
stage 2 move to higher throw on control surfaces
stage 3 move switch to “high”
stage 4 bigger batteries stage five change the motor…..your now at a stage of being able to fly any of the Parkzone!

Which ever way you do it.....the same as every one else before you YOU WILL CRASH AT SOME TIME! Just remeber it's a learning curve, and fun also

Also remember....cravat if your not wearing a tie, pipe if you have the canope open!:D

If you have the space to take off and land on short grass, I would recommend the T28. If you want something that will scare you ever time you fly it, get a Stryker C. I've been flying 7 months and every time I fly the Stryker it scares me lol.

I'm sure it scares the locals more....LOL!:D

I think I'm more of a threat to moles and wirms than birds!:D:D:D

Haha, actually I keep getting residents come over to be to congratulate me on my flying ability. I aslk them if they were sure they were watching me lol.

The Stryker makes a hell of a racket at full chat, I like to glide in slowly and then open her up and go ballistic lol.

Like I said earlier though, the Stryker still scares me every time I fly it lol.

Haha yeah I get people watching when I fly too, I suppose it's like a free airshow for them... if a little limited.

I guess people like to watch aerobatics, I get people talk to be flying the Spitfire because it's a spitfire, they talk to me about the T28 because it can do amazing stunts in the air and they talk to me about the Stryker because it's fast and does look impressive when flown fast and smooth.

I get a few dogs and toddlers try and chase the planes

I had a little white dog chasing my Cub around for about 10 minutes, after that he got so worn out he just sat on the floor and his owner had to come over and carry him away... I don't think it could walk another yard!! :D

Since I've been flying my Spitfire no dogs have taken any notice at all, I guess it's because they couldn't keep up.
