Just brought my Spitfire home after abit of a gusty fly-about before the rain started. Whilst I did a fly by, I thought I saw a wing fold, or flutter at least. After bringing her home, removing the wings, there is a nice 6" crack on the left wing but on a part which sits inside the plane.

Is there any possible way to fix this as it's only a shallow crack so far?

Bird down for now :(

jesus.,.,good job you noticed it,.you can fix it in many ways,.i would run some strong epoxy over into the crack,.then cover it with some 3" or 4" masking tape then brush over with some pva glue,.thats the white stuff that you can mix with water.,or wood glue mixed with water,..,you can then repaint when dry,.or if this all sounds like hassle the the boys here will sell you a new wing,,their not much!.......keep us posted.

Thanks Rob,

I've got some NHP 30min Epoxy from another project left over, I didn't know it was compatible with foam .. I might even mix in some Micro Fibres too for that added stregnth.

Do you know if the replacement wings on SL come with the metal rods that connect to the servo?

You need to apply the masking tape and glue to the underside of the wing, better still fit a couple of carbon rods fitted into a piece of brass tube bent to the dihedral and bury this in the top of the wing.

You can also "open up" the wound and fill with PVA, but if you go flying flat out......"fly fast....................die fast" this will not be the strongest!

Don't forget to apply glue to the plastic when you get your new wing. The two bits of tape will hold it together but gluing the plastic in will provide better transfer of load, especially at the hand launch points.
