first the whinge when will the weather pick up so i can get some flight time whinge over now the question

i want to up grade my servos in my spit and my cub as the cub uses non standard servos i assume i would need to change the rx/esc not a problem for the spit but as the wind is still fairly brisk i thought i could use some more power in both so do i upgrade to a brushless or can i change the rx in my cub to a spit rx and run on batts from my spit or do i bight the bullet and go brushless change the radio gear if so to what

Hi Charles,

I have modified my Super Cub for aerial combat. My Super Cub now sports an RX from a Spit, a T-28 Brushless Motor along side an E-flite 25 Amp ESC. The beast runs on a 1800mAh LiPo that gives the old girl a little bit of a kick. I have had to strengthen the wings a little so I embedded a fibreglass rod into the underside on the wings just to give it a little more rigidity.

The next step is to change the Radio gear to the Spektrum DX6i. But for the time being the Spit radio gear does the trick.

There are a couple of guys here that have changed nothing but the battery by replacing it with the 10.8V 1400 mAh battery or the 1800 mAh LiPo. They simply haven't concerned themselves with the possibility of burning out the ESC, but numerous flights in an no burning/melting foam!
Obviously if you do this, you do it at your own risk but the performance increase is hilarious.:D

All the best,

Squadron Leader

What you really wanna do with your Cub is to flatten the Dihedral and fit ailerons and even flaps, use the DX6i radio for proper 4 channel action, just watch out for the flat spin lol
