Honestly, I would save the extra £40 and go for a DX6i, you get a better radio and a much better receiver. The DX5 is a great "bundled" radio but the DX6i is superior in ever respect.

I've heard the same argument for buying the DX7 over the 6 as well though. How many people really need a 10 model memory? I'm sold on the DX5, as it's within my budget. Another 40 quid is a lot of money for me...

Yeah i know where your coming from. 2 kids and £1.22/litre of diesel!! I have collected 6 or so models over the last few years so have got use to altering trims manually each time on my 35mhz tx. Just wondering about the DX5e reciever though? (i think its the AR500) Why is this a lesser model than the AR6100 / 6200? Surely 2.4ghz is 2.4ghz? Spektrum claim 'out of sight range' so surely that cant be the issue?

There isn't anything wrong with it apart from it's the budget RX, doesn't have model match or any safety features but then the whole kit is £60 However if you look at what you get for the extra £40 you get a DSM2 AR6200 (full range) dual RX with a very good budget radio. The radio supports Helicopters, plains, elevon mixing, dual aileron mixing it's pretty much got everything you need.
The DX7 is over £100 more and brings to the table more advanced features t for light use and for someone who has more than one model I would say the DX6i is the best all round radio you can get for the money. Not so long ago, a traditional 4 channel FM radio would have cost you £120. it's crazy.
