Doesn't anyone love the F27B? What's wrong with it or what's right with it?
We feel this slightly ugly bird is a bloody good flyer. Anyone agree?

Hi Squadronleader
I must admit I am in two minds about the F27B. The PZ planes are nice RTF planes that allows us to get a scale plane up in the air and fly nicely. However I feel that the F27B is more like the Hobbyzone planes like the aerobirds i.e. a plane designed to be an rc plane not a scale version of the real thing. This means it does fly well as an rc plane - fast and tough. However all the warbirds look great (or at least great for the price) and fly well so are enough to get us newbies going. There is nothing like the look of the Spit on a low level flypast :D The F27B just does not seem to look as good although on other forums people say it is good fun and fairly tough (as it has a prop at the back and rubber nose at the front) I for one want to pretend I am flying the real thing (I can dream!!) and the F27B just looks like a toy. The Cub although not a warbird still looks good and more importantly flies well for a beginner plane as well as being a solid platform for all sorts of mods/experimentation like skis, floats and camera mounting.
I hope this answers your question - what do others think?

I have just used my new LiPO battery on my F27B and its amazing!!!!
Real seat of your pants stuff!!!! the speed is incredible! not for the faint hearted.
I also own a Spit and a FW and agree these are beautiful models and fly extremely well, but for some high speed fun you cannot beat the F27 s
It moves like an Audi R8!!!
That has convinced me. I just ditched my Li-po Spit for the second time in a row so am looking for something fast but stronger. :)

I am looking at getting my 1st plane. After a lot of thought i have decided that i will probably be getting the stryker instead of the cub.
I have played on a simulator and have done a lot of reading about flying RC so I think I should be ok with the step up for my 1st flyer. The cub just seems too docile and i can see myself getting bored of it quickly.
Just waiting for squadron leader to get their mains chanrgers and new batteries in stock.
I have just bought a Stryker and upgraded it to Li-po. This honestly has to be the best plane in terms of entertainment. I have a Spit and a FW190 but this is now my favourite.
The Li-po make a real difference to the speed and its rate of climb - if you are looking for sheer entertainment then this is the plane to get. It is also a little more robust than the other planes and takes to heavy landings better;)

I`d be interested to learn how you got on,I thought exactly the same as you and got the stryker instead of the cub. It was also my 1st RC plane but thought i`d be up to speed with it being a 747 captain with virgin for a living and having spent years flying PC flight simultors. Although I could fly the thing the windy days I used it on didn`t help and it kept getting away from me. I didn`t enjoy flying it as I was always on edge trying to keep it from leaving the confines of the park. I let a mate have a go and about 5 seconds later it was in pieces on the ground!
Now the weather is starting to improve I`ve just ordered a Cub,should be here today I hope. It looks a lot more relaxing and gracefull from the videos I`ve seen
cheers

Jon,
Well, i received my Stryker, it looks ace! I also ordered one of the upgrade batteries. Unfortunately, the battery I received was faulty and fried my plane before I even got it off the ground :(
Squadron leader have been excellent sorting me out, cant beat their customer service!!
One of my work mates has sold me one of his transmitters of his for a bargain price so I am now looking at building a stryker air frame from SL and building the rest from parts and going straight up to lipos and a brushless motor. I think I also need to include some glue on my next order. :p
How damaged was your Stryker? From reading other forums they are very easy to glue back together. Once you are used to your Super Cub, I believe you will be flying your Stryker again soon.. Painted air frame for £35.. bargain. You can even let you friend fly the cub while you fly rings around him :p :)

Hi all Fans of the Amazing F27
I got a Ducted fan Kyosho for my birthday thinking i wanted to move on the next level after the f27b and its a great looking model but no where near as good in the air as the F27, I have upgraded the bat to a 3S lipo and its amazing, I think they are easier to fly than clubs because they are so responsive. You turn and it turns, none of this slow banking!!!
Anyway the next move for me is a f27C badboy i think, i still want a plane that will go vertical constantly!!! no stalling.
Thinking of putting a ducted fan unit on a f27b to see how it goes!
I have also managed to put my 2.4Ghz camera on the f27 and fly it, belive me that was hard, she was so heavy in the air and for the initial launch.
But it worked.
Big up the F27s,

i ordered a F-27B airframe to fix my F-27B and the only one they do now is the F-27C airframe but the ailerons for the B version dont fit and i have been waiting for 2 months now so it is a good job i have the F-27C to scream around the field untill the parts come for my F-27B arrive.
The F-27B in stock form has not got enough power in windy conditions and can get away from you.
But put a F-27C in the air and boy its a joy to see as soon as it leaves your hand it will go vertical and keep going ,on a cloudy day it will disappear in the clouds and wont get away on a windy day.

I bought a F27B airframe from SL and a pair of T28 wing servos for the elevons, I used a KMS 2000kv motor with an APC 6x4 prop and i'm quite happy with mine now. In the beginning it was a nightmare getting it dialed in and then I crashed it ripping the motor off.
As soon the 27Cmotor mounts come in, I want one though because it's a much stronger mount.
Today it was far too windy for the F27B really but I ended up flying it like a kite, I had it hanging in the air with hardly any throttle but full up elevator and I was able to keep it hanging there like a kite. It looked pretty cool actually.
I need to change the colours though as the drab grey is impossible to see in the sky.

I still have a small B2 cheep bomber (from the gadget shop, when they where still open!) and you only had to #### and it would stay up the same way:D
Do you get any ground effect on land it? thought this was a problum with delta wings?......and what sort of damage can it take? my B2 used to come in from on high, straight in to the deck and then I just pick her through and fly again (but she is much, much smaller!)

Ralph, you might find this interesting
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=885998&page=5
you have to goto page 4 before anything interesting starts but you get the idea.
My stryker doesnt seam to have much ground effect and what it does have helps me land it. The ground effect helps to level the wings so I can bring it in gently. I didnt used to like flying this kite because it was so full on flying it but now I think i'm getting used to it and might order some styro paints and go for a bright orange paint job lol.
