I have a FW 190 that I put a brushless motor from a Styker in.I believe it's a 1800kv.The plane is great to fly and will climb at will. The only mod required was enlarging the gearbox slightly to accomodate the larger diameter motor and a metal 12 tooth pinion to fit the 3mm shaft. The plane can now handle windy days better because of the added power.I now want to build a brushless Spitfire but I think I might try more motor or even a directdrive outrunner.
Just wanted to try to get some chat going.

I have been thinking about the same type of upgrade. I have a spare wing and want to try to add retracts and flaps. With the added weight I think more power will be required. It will have a 3s 2200mah lipo and an E-flite ESC/Outrunner combo and a futaba 6EX radio set up. I have also kicked around an idea of adding 2-3 inches to the wings center section to give this thing some more wing area to handle its weight better. Anyone know if the thrust angles are built into the firewall??

I believe it's built into the gear box so if your no longer using it you have to set up the thrust angle yourself.
