All I can tell you is that the lower the wind the better. Today I tried to fly thinking that it wasn't too windy and the wind took my plane straight into a tree. So i've had to order new props, cowel and wings. :(

Hi guys,
You should not be flying in winds greater than 8mph according to the manufacturers.
A quick way of testing the wind speed can be found in your plane instructions (I know....who actually reads them:D). Page 16 for the Super Cub and circa page 7 for the Warbirds.
To check the wind conditions:
• Tie the antenna ribbon to the transmitter.
• Hold the transmitter so the antenna is parallel to the ground. If the ribbon hangs down, it is calm enough to fly. If the angle between the
antenna and the flag is less than 20 degrees, it is too windy and you need
to postpone your flight.
I hope this helps.

Well talking about wind speed, today I managed to fly my cub for the first time in quite high winds and managed to land. The trick I found was to keep it head on into the wind as high as possible, then turn with the wind, then trun back. Can't wait to fly again...

Well done,
You are correct about the method of landing and taking off into wind, this is what you should be doing at all times. You will find that your climb performance is greatly improved whilst pointing into wind and considerable reduced when attempting to climb with a tail wind.
Loops and other aerobatics are all best when starting and finishing the manoeuvre whilst flying into wind.

Roger that....too windy in my area at mo, cant wait for a calm day, took my PZ spitfire out other day 14mph winds thought it would be ok as i took her in a crater like basin which took the wind down a bit...and..Ahem need a new cowl, wing, battery hatch and firewall. I cursed myself all the way home, I launched her into the wind and she stalled left straight away into a dive i checked the alerons trim elevator all the pre flight checks so i was a bit miffed at that happening. any one got any ideas? should get the parts in next couple of days but i'm abit apprehensive to take my baby out again : (

Last Thursday couldn't wait anymore, we had a break in the weather so I thought to myself "flying time". Went over to my local park, took off into the wind. Everything was going great. THEN, I don't know what happend next. The plane went very high 200 - 300 feet then the wind got it and I couldn't control it. Everything I tried but the plane kept on going. The next thing I knew I couldn't see it anymore and guess what? I never found it. So all I was left with is a transmitter. So this week I took delivery of another one, flew it briefly then lost my nerve and went home. If anyone sees a supercub in their area with no owner around, it's probably mine, please let me know.

Whilst fly always can be disheartening, they are also quite funny providing they cause no damage to harm or property especially if you never ever see them or the wreck again!
I have had one or two of them myself.
They also seem to fly so much better when one has no control over them !!
I couldn’t help but have a little chuckle-sorry!
