hi,
me and me mate (andy) av just bought mustangs and r awaiting delivery.
ive never flown rc planes before and he's only flown helli's.yes i'm aware we are going to crash. A LOT!. but the mustangs looked cool, on you tube with soundtrack they totally rocked. we also got a good deal on the planes (£90 all in each, brand new in box from a store). have spent last week on flight simms to get accustomed to flying. we have recieved mixed info on the way to launch as parkzone advocates full throttle and others have posted half. we'll be using the battries supplied in the box. i realise if lipo's r more powerfull then a reduction may be neccessary. hope to get some good footage of crashes will post if good enough.as yet on the simm i can circle once or twice, having trouble coming in to land i crash every time.
post any flying or landing tips please
carlos:confused:

Hi Carlos,

I know the Mustang looks cool, but it is definetly not a beginners model. I have just upgraded mine to lipo's and its so much better than using the standard batteries. As for flying landing tips all I can advise is:

- Pick a dead calm day to fly on, it will give you much more chance of surviving.
- Pick a LARGE open space to fly, and less obsticles to avoid the better.
- Always launch the model into wind and always land into wind.
- Get a friend to launch the model for you if you can, this means you can focus only on the flying.
- Always fly infront of yourself at an altitude you are comftable at, but remember if you make a mistake you need extra height to recover.
- Never fly directly above or behind yourself, this can get you disorientated very quickly.
- Just use low rates till you get used to the model, switch to high rates after at least 5 flights

Landings.

- When landing ALWAYS land into wind, fly a big circuit and take time in linning yourself up properly, do not be rushed.
- Keep the wings level on approach, with the model in a slight nose down attitude. (you can glide in with the motor off and still prevent stalling with the nose slightly down)
- As you are nearing the ground (5 Feet) gently pull back on the stick to bring the nose upto level flight, this is called 'flairing.'

If you take these points into account it will give you a good headstart, remember that the mustang will only last about 8-10 minutes max on this battery so do not fly for more than 6-7 minutes because you may want a few attempts at landing while you still have power. Also, the mustang will fly very fast on full throttle so back it off a bit once you are at the altitude you are comftable with.

Good luck guys hope these tips help you out. :D
