Hi there,
I recently a Spitfire and although I have little flying experience I really wanted to have a go. Guess what? Crash! I know it was pilot error but I am worried that there might have been something wrong with the aileron servo which might not have helped. When the stick was put full over the servo kept buzzing and was a bit juddery. The elevator servo was silent at full travel. After the crash I took the servo apart and found that some of the gears inside were stripped. Has anyone any experience of this and can tell me what was wrong or could it be a dud servo?
Look forward to any comments.

Mine clicks like it's slipping gears on right hand, I guess I should change it out as soon as possible lol

One of my T-28 Aileron servos went u/s during a low level roll resulting in a crash. A servo replacement (as well as a new wing) is now on order from SL.
It was quite interesting after the crash trying to work out why it crashed as it was obvious at the time it was something technical rather than something pilot related. Although the opposite aileron was still functioning, with only one the roll rate was less than that was required to prevent the accident and the rudder was in-effective in this particular situation.
I wish I could get someone to modify my T-28 to include flaps, I know there are people out there who have done this but I don't personally know anyone and don't have the ability to do it myself. Maybe SL could start doing modifiing or be a retailer for modified aircraft/wings etc.

Guys,
I don't know if this helps. Over the years I have had this sort of problum with new servos and found that it can be a fitting issue. if you do this small correction before flight you will stop the gears from snapping.
1. connect servos to radio and switch on
2. if you hear the clicking take screw out of the head of servo and remove arm
3. clicking should stop
4. re-attach arm and screw in
this happens some times as the servo is at the end of the tollerances of movement
OR you could have a duff servo....and the gears are shot

Hi Dizzee,
I know what you mean; it would be great if you could purchase upgraded/modified components for the aeroplanes. However, most modifications take quite a while and it just wouldn't be feasible for us to undertake such work at the moment. However, we will be producing a modifications section on the website which will give Squadron members advice and step by step guides on how to get the most out of your kite.
I don't know if you guys are interested but we have been working on the Super Super Cub!
This old girl is now running with a Spitfire RX, 480 Brushless Outrunner motor, 25-Amp ESC and a 11.1V 1800mAh LiPo battery pack.
Yet to fly it, but I can tell you now, it's going go like something off a shiny shovel!

I want to add flaps to my T28 but dont want to risk it on the only good wing I have. Seen plenty of other Flap mods and some use two servos for this. Im not sure I like the 2x servo idea though as it's more load on the ESC. I think I would prefer a single servo and some kind of linkage, I might ponder over this and see if I can find a simple solution.
I did add a rudder to one of my Spitfires and that was fairly straight forward to do, and all with PZ parts (apart from hinges) too.
