Default Another Super Cub Newbie.

Hi everybody,

I got my super cub just after new year and I am loving it

After 9 or 10 flights I have replaced the wing , snapped the tail, ripped the motor out (fixed it with super glue), smashed the cowl and she still flies I just love how she looks when I ROG

I have attached a keychain camera with an elastic band and I cant wait to get her up high to get some good video.

Now I can fly I just need to learn how to land where I want to.

Michael

Welcome M8. I never had the Cub but I've repaired most of my birds plenty of times, it's all part of the fun process

The flying bit is pretty easy isn't? If you ever discover the secret to perfect landings, let me know eh?

Hi jimmyboy, drakie and smartymarty,

Thank you for the warm welcome,

Going off the weather station link on squadron leader it seems the wind should drop enough on wednesday so I will be out on the field (two mins walk from my house).

jimmyboy, I laughed hard at your comment on landings coz I have had some really smooth landings on to the main wheels and she rolled along but then she tips her nose. I think the secret is lots of practice

Echo that, welcome aboard mate. The only reason I kept flying whilst learning was this forum and the good natured fun poked at all the crash test pilots

Welcome aboard mate!!

Part of this hobby is learning how to repair and get flying again and it seems you do that well.

If your first wing isnt too badly damaged and you still have it treat yourself to a hot glue gun and stick it back together.
Mine is still flying on a previously snapped wing!

When landing at the end of the run try a little up elevator to keep the nose down, not too much too soon or youll be going round again

You can also look into some slightly bigger wheels, I put some on mine and it helps a hell of a lot.

Keep us posted and we look forward to your videos

Well the wind finally dropped enough for me to take the SC out with my key chain cam, I needed full down trim and full down elevator to stop from flipping over at full throttle ( this has never happened before ) landed and fiddled with the pushrod and tried again with the same result, any body have any ideas??

Other than this I brought it down well on the first landing, not so good on the second, didnt want to risk another flight until I get this sorted.

I checked the video when I got back and it was all blurry so looks like I need a new cam too maybe next time

Thumbs up

Welcome to the forum mate, you will find everyone helpful if you have a problem, they are a great bunch. With regard to your cub trying to flip where did you place the camera?. If you place it too far back,ie on the fin then likely as not it will affect the balance of the aircraft resulting in the symptoms you mention.
